L DIGIWAXX ARTIST SPOTLIGHT P.A.T. Louisiana’s Finest Brings Southern Energy, Real Music & “The IT Factor”!! The Opelousas, Louisiana artist is bringing Southern storytelling, club energy and a deep respect for DJ culture to his next chapter. Some artist names are created. Others are earned. For P.A.T. Louisiana’s Finest, born Pat Jones, the “Louisiana’s Finest” title came after a performance in New York City where he worked the crowd so well that the name was given to him immediately afterward. Raised and still based in Opelousas, Louisiana, P.A.T. represents a Southern musical tradition while refusing to be boxed into one sound. “My music is like a breath of fresh air,” he says. “I’ve been told I describe what I’m saying to the listener like they can see what I’m saying.” Influenced by Geto Boys, UGK, OutKast, 2Pac, Dead Prez, screw tapes and Southern freestyle culture, P.A.T. describes his approach as rooted in Louisiana but built around lyricism, storytelling and craftsmanship. “I love music differently and respect it too much just to throw together anything and put it out,” he explains. “I care about the craftsmanship of it.” A RECORD BUILT FOR THE CLUB P.A.T. is currently pushing “Beat Her Back Up / Fuck Sum Shit Up,” featuring Level, a high-energy record that came after supporters challenged him to create something specifically for Louisiana’s club culture. Having never considered himself a traditional club-record artist, P.A.T. tapped producer Mikki Gunz to provide the sound. Once he heard the production, he immediately knew who belonged on the record with him: Level. The mission was simple: ENERGY. P.A.T. wants people dancing, recording the moment, Shazaming the song and asking the DJ to run it back. His ambitions for the record extend beyond clubs and radio. He sees the music potentially living in movies, video games, digital worlds and other entertainment platforms. A music video is also on the way. “DJs ARE THE BACKBONE OF THIS GAME” For P.A.T., DJs remain essential to breaking new music. “DJs are the backbone of this game,” he says. “The DJ has the ear to the crowd, so they reach your audience at the best possible time, when they are actively seeking music to listen to.” His message to the Digiwaxx DJ community is equally direct. “I love the music like you love your hard drive.” And why should a DJ unfamiliar with P.A.T. take a chance and press play? “If you a real DJ, you would wanna know if this is some gas or some trash!” That confidence is part of what P.A.T. is bringing into his next project. THE IT FACTOR “Beat Her Back Up / Fuck Sum Shit Up” is part of a bigger rollout leading into P.A.T.’s upcoming project, The IT Factor. He’s also promoting “3 JONES,” featuring Fiend of Jet Life, with additional music and collaborations on the way. But behind the ambition is a surprisingly simple definition of success. For P.A.T., winning means being able to make music without worrying about bills, food or whether he can afford to continue creating. It means having the freedom to create. Outside of music, P.A.T. describes himself as a loyal man who enjoys peace and quiet and is passionate about becoming the person God wants him to be. But when it comes to the music, his mission remains clear. “I joke and have fun when it’s time for it, and I still take this serious enough to care what I put out and what the end goal is.” And ultimately, there’s one thing he wants listeners to take away from discovering P.A.T. Louisiana’s Finest: “I WANT PEOPLE TO WANT MORE REAL MUSIC — AND THAT’S SOMETHING I WILL ALWAYS BRING.” ARTIST: P.A.T.
